Joan Woo Chou's Obituary
Joan Woo Chou, loving wife and mother, peacefully departed this life on January 5, 2019 in Memphis, Tennessee. Mrs. Chou was born in Canton, China and came to the United States to start a new life with her husband Foon Hong Chou in the early 1950’s. The two worked side by side for many years operating Joe Wong’s Grocery Store in Cotton Plant, Arkansas for 30+ years before retirement brought them to the Memphis area. She was predeceased by her husband, Foon Hong Chou who passed away on November 19, 2004. She was a member of First Chinese Baptist Church and Mid-South Chinese Association. She is survived by three of four children and their spouses: William and Yu-Chi Chou of Germantown, Tennessee; Wendy and Leo Hong of Stoneham, Massachusetts; Danny and Shuting Chou of Cordova, Tennessee. She was predeceased by son Donald Chou whose wife Jue Ann still resides in California. Mrs. Chou also leaves behind her many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.The family burial service will be private. A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held on January 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM for both family and friends at First Chinese Baptist Church, 7555 Macon Road, Cordova TN. 38018In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to First Chinese Baptist Church, 7555 Macon Road, Cordova, Tennessee, 38018.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”.
