Jo Ann McIlvain's Obituary
Josephine “Jo Ann” Bateman McIlvain, was born on March 5, 1939 and passed away on January 25, 2015. She was born to her late parents Robert W. Bateman and Cora Lee Hymel. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gregory Thomas McIlvain.She was a 1957 graduate of Memphis Technical High School. She was an employee of Kellogg Company retiring in 1994 with 36 years of service.Mrs. McIlvain was a member of Woodlawn Rainbow Assembly #19, where she was Worthy Advisor and served Grand Assembly as Grand Service.In 1987 as a member of Woodlawn #74 order of the Eastern Star, she served as Worthy Matron. She then served Grand Chapter as Worthy Grand Matron in 2004.Jo Ann was active at Second Baptist Church, and was a member of the Joy Sunday school class. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Mary Galloway Home.She is survived by her nephew, Philip Sams and his wife Ronda.Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m., until the service time at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum.In lieu of flowers, Jo Ann requested donations be made to Second Baptist Church or Mary Galloway Home.
