Jimmy Cortez Wardlaw's Obituary
Jimmy Cortez Wardlaw, 87, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026. He was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi, to Thomas E. and Zella Mae Wardlaw.
Jimmy retired from Paramount Music and Revlon and also spent time as an over‑the‑road truck driver. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joe Wardlaw (2008); and his brother, Bobby Joe Wardlaw.
Jimmy is survived by his son, Chad Wardlaw of Olive Branch; his daughter, Misti Crawford of Memphis; four grandsons, Dylan Wardlaw of Hernando, Zach Crawford of Memphis, Landon Wardlaw of Olive Branch, and Kevin Warren of Southaven; and three great‑grandchildren, Lily, JJ, and Noah. He also leaves behind his beloved fur baby, Weezy, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Jimmy lived a full and joyful life. He loved fishing, music, sharing coffee with his school friends, and trying new restaurants. His happiest moments were spent cooking and grilling for family, hosting fish fries, and enjoying time with those he loved. He was an avid fan of Wheel of Fortune, enjoyed classic western movies, and collected coins throughout his life.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Jimmy’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Father Flanagan’s Boys Home, or Tunnel to Towers.
