Jimmy Norman Shelton's Obituary
Jimmy Norman "Shortnumber" Shelton, 80, of Bartlett, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2021. Jimmy was born in Memphis and was a lifelong resident of Shelby County. He was a graduate of Kingsbury High School, class of 1959. He served on the Memphis Police Department for 30 years, retiring as Captain in 1993. He was very proud of his service as a police officer and of his colleagues and friends on the police force.
A celebration of life will be conducted Monday, November 8, 12 noon, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with visitation 1 hour prior and brief graveside service following.
Jimmy was born August 4, 1941 in Memphis, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman V. and Daphine Shelton, by an infant sister, Sandra, and son Michael William Shelton. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Maye Shelton, sons Michael Norman Shelton (Lauren), Mark Stephens (Gail), Matthew Shelton, a daughter, Laura Lane (Steve), 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
