Jimmy H Humphrey's Obituary
Jimmy H. Humphrey, age 69, passed away on April 21, 2026. Born on June 28, 1956, he was the son of the late R.L. and Margie Humphrey.
Jimmy grew up alongside his brothers, where many of his earliest memories were made on the baseball field. Those days shaped his lifelong love for sports and the simple joys of time spent with family. He also cherished fishing trips with his father and grandfather, moments that stayed close to his heart throughout his life. As the years went on, his appreciation for the outdoors only deepened. While he continued to enjoy fishing, he found even greater peace in sitting quietly and watching deer roam his property. A reflection of his gratitude for God’s creation and the beauty of the world around him.
A devoted sports fan, Jimmy rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. He was a die-hard supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers and the New York Yankees, following games with enthusiasm and loyalty that never wavered.
Jimmy dedicated over 40 years of his life to his work as a concrete contractor, a trade he began in his teenage years. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the pride he took in a job well done. Even beyond his work, he was someone people could count on; steady, dependable, and always willing to lend a hand.
Though he never had children of his own, Jimmy’s love for family was undeniable. He adored his seven great nieces and nephews, treating them as his own. He could always be found supporting them in whatever they pursued, attending dance recitals, watching gymnastics videos, and most especially cheering them on at softball games. In his final years, Jimmy never missed a game. If visitors stopped by while a game was on, they quickly found themselves watching too. There was no place he’d rather be. Among all those moments, watching Kayla pitch held a special place in his heart and brought him immense joy.
Jimmy will be remembered for his quiet strength, his deep love for family, and his appreciation for life’s simple blessings. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, RL & Margie, and one brother, Gary Humphrey. He is survived by his brother, Curtis (Cathy) Humphrey, and a host of many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119 (901) 767-8930.
