Jimmie Murray's Obituary
Jimmie Murray was born on October 10,1937 in Memphis, Tennessee. He grew up in a full and lively household, where he was raised in the Methodist faith. From an early age, he developed strong values of faith, family, and hard work, principles that guided his life and shaped the man so many came to admire and love.
He met the love of his life, Alice Murray, while riding on the school bus. From the very beginning, he told her that one day he would marry her. True to his word, they were married in 1957, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, devotion, and shared purpose. Five years later, in 1962 they moved to California to pursue new opportunities and build a future together.
Side by side, Jimmie and Alice worked tirelessly. Jimmie washed cars, delivered newspapers with his wife, and did whatever was necessary to provide for their family. His dedication eventually led him to a successful career at Lockheed Aeronautical where he worked faithfully for 28 years and was promoted to manager. Known for his impeccable work ethic, Jimmie was never late and never missed a day.
During his time there, Jimmie faced a significant challenge involving the durability of the material used for the sides of the aircraft. Through persistence, creativity, and determination, he developed an innovative solution that allowed the material to be stretched without tearing. His problem-solving skills ultimately saved the company millions of dollars, leaving a lasting legacy of ingenuity and excellence.
After marriage, Jimmie accepted Christ and became a devoted member of the Church of God in Christ. For many years, he and his wife faithfully attended West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles, where they were dedicated members. Serving others became one of Jimmie’s greatest passions. Together, he and his wife provided 40 families with full Thanksgiving turkey dinners each year for 14 years. They personally shopped, packed each meal, loaded a rental van, and drove for hours to deliver them—blessing others through love and service. As always, they did everything together.
Together, Jimmie and Alice enjoyed fishing, taking out-of-town trips, and spending time with friends and family. Wherever life took them, they went hand in hand—just as they always had.
In his later years, Jimmie faced the greatest challenge of his life when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Through every moment, his loving wife never left his side. She cared for him full-time in their home with unwavering devotion, supported by their nephew Ray, until Jimmie’s passing on December 12th, 2025. His life was surrounded by love until the very end.
Jimmie is survived by his soulmate and beloved wife of 68 years Alice, his sister Willie Dean, his devoted nephew Ray and family, and many nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.
Jimmie lived a life defined by faith, love, hard work, and service to others. His legacy is one of steadfast devotion, generosity, and a love that endured through every season of life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
