Jimma was one of the strongest women I knew. She was with me through a difficult time in my life. Always encouraging me and giving me support in tough decisions I had to make. She was a gracious hostess to our high school group. I enjoyed our many gatherings at her home! She will always have a special place in my heart.
I watched Jimma grow as a teacher. She was soon one of the best teachers I ever knew.
I graduated with Jimma Lou from Messick High School❤️🖤--so sorry to hear we've lost a Panther! Sympathy & prayers to her family! RIP!😞🙏
I first met Momma D in summer school and if it wouldn’t have been for her love of her students and her Job I probably wouldn’t have graduated High School. She always had a smile on her face; when I saw her and she gave me the biggest hugs ,she will be missed. Sam H.
She was the Lasagna Queen of our little group, and could fry a mean fish as well. She was a good cook all around.
We both were graduates of Memphis State, as it was called then, and whenever the Tigers won, it was a race to see which one of us could be first to call the other to sing the Tiger fight song. We also did that with the Razorback fight song.
She cared, more than many of her students realized at the time she was teaching them. I remember her one time sitting and grading papers, in tears because so many weren't taking learning seriously.
She will be missed. She will be long remembered.
