Jerry P. Byrd's Obituary
Jerry Byrd of Hornsby Tennessee passed away peacefully in his home on April 17, 2023
He was born on May 21, 1940 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Phelon and Lorene Byrd.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Joan Byrd.
Jerry retired from the University of Memphis after working for 25 years, as a mail carrier.
He enjoyed watching University of Memphis, The Grizzlies and the University of Tennessee games. He also enjoyed calling the shut in's of Hornsby Baptist Church and loved listening to his gospel CD's. Before he was a member of Hornsby Baptist, he was also a member of New Memphis of Church in Memphis Tennessee.
Survivors include a brother of Williston, Tennessee, James Byrd (Maryjane); a son, Stephen Byrd and daughter in law Vinnie Byrd of Hornsby Tennessee; a grandson, Stephen Byrd Jr and a Great Grand Daughter, Gracie Byrd both from Hornsby Tennessee.
The Byrd Family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 2:00pm in the Fireside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
