Jerry Marshall Buckaloo's Obituary
Jerry Marshall Buckaloo passed away on April 19 and spent Easter with his Lord. Jerry was born in Trenton, Tennessee, January 30, 1935, to Lucille Davis Buckaloo and Jonah Frank Buckaloo.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gloria, and his son, Jerrold (Jennifer), Mt. Pleasant SC., granddaughters Clayton Buckaloo and Alison Buckaloo, step granddaughters Katherine McEvoy and Hope McEvoy, his sister Rebecca South, Jackson TN.
Jerry graduated from Peabody High School in Trenton, TN. He graduated from Memphis State College in 1956. He was president of his junior class, and a member of "M" Club, Tiger Rag, and Student Government. He was a charter member of Epsilon Kappa chapter, Sigma Chi fraternity and received the Balfour Award. After college Jerry served in the 10th Mountain Division U.S. Army in Europe and in the summers, he served in the 409 Military Intelligence Reserve at the Pentagon. After active army service he went to work in the cotton industry on Front Street. He retired from East Cotton Company in Marion AR. Jerry was active in Boy Scouts of America, Troop 75. He was a lifelong active member of the Methodist church and was a longtime member of Christ Methodist Church and the Lamplighters Sunday school class.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, April 24 at 9:00 am followed by a funeral service at 10:00 all in the Wilson Chapel of Christ Methodist Church. A private interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations would be made to Christ Methodist Church, 4488 Poplar Avenue, Memphis TN.
