Jerrold Frederic Hearn Jr's Obituary
Jerrold Frederic Hearn Jr. (“Freddie” as he was lovingly referred to by friends and family) was born on August 28th, 1961, in Memphis, Tennessee. He passed away on the morning of March 23rd, 2026. Freddie is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Ann Hearn, his brother Jeff Hearn, his sister JoBeth and her husband Robert Hooker, and his children Trey, Haylee, Jesse, and his wife, Jennifer Hearn. Freddie was preceded in death by his father, Jerrold Hearn Sr.
Freddie was blessed with a big, loving family and was a proud uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and step-grandparent to Justice, London, Emma, and Gus Latta.
Freddie graduated from Germantown High School in 1980. He was a star athlete who competed at the state level for pole vaulting and played football for several years. He acted as the Wooddale High School junior varsity team’s quarterback his sophomore year and continued to play until an injury dashed his dream of further football glory in his junior year.
Freddie attended Memphis State University until 1983. The following year, he married his now former wife, Cindy, and they had the first of their three children in 1986.
Freddie spent most of his career as a truck driver performing sales routes for companies such as Ryder and Klinke Brothers Ice Cream. He also spent several years doing security and driving a concrete mixer for Memphis Ready Mix and was recognized as one of the company’s top ten drivers during his tenure there in 2005.
Freddie was deeply spiritual and a devout Christian. He made Jesus his savior at five years old and rejoiced in the Lord every day. He made it his mission to champion the power of faith, and he carried his Bible almost everywhere. He also donated to several Christian charities and organizations every month.
He had many artistic talents. He was a musician, singer, and songwriter. He was very fond of acoustic guitar and wrote several original songs ranging from blues rock to folk, and later in life wrote an entire Christian folk album. He was also fond of wood sculpting and made dozens of sculptures in his lifetime. He was known to get lost in a project for days or even weeks at a time before gifting his work to someone he loved. He particularly enjoyed carving animals and scenes from the Bible.
Freddie was also a hobby fisherman. On early mornings or late afternoons, he could be found exploring lakes and ponds in the Germantown area, keeping a watchful eye for the monster waiting for the right bait.
Freddie was a man of strong convictions with a soft spot for family. He found a best friend in dogs and took care of several families' good boys during his life. He found the greatest joy in being playful and silly. His spirit shined brightest when he was surrounded by people he loved and their laughter echoing in his ears.
God has His servant now, and he will be missed.
