Jeffrey Neal McIlvain's Obituary
Jeffrey Neal McIlvain, Senior Vice President, Managing Director for Medical and Private Client Group at Renasant Bank in Memphis, Tennessee died unexpectedly on April 25, 2025, at the age of 58.
Jeff was born on February 26, 1967, to Thomas and Charlotte (Poindexter) McIlvain. He graduated from Harding Academy with the class of 1985 and went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree from Belhaven College with a focus on Business Administration and Management. Jeff spent his career in the banking and financial industry. He started as Vice Present as a retail Banking Officer with First Tennessee Bank. Proceed to Vice President, Private Client Officer, Wealth Management Banker with Bank of America, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. He then returned to the role of Vice President, Private Client Officer, Medical Banking Group with First Horizon. Then on to Financial Advisor, Assistant Vice President with Merrill Lunch Wealth Management. Rounding out his career with Senior Vice President, Managing Director for Medical and Private Client Group at Renasant Bank. Jeff wanted to learn and be the best for his clients and customers. He held several licenses and certification such as Personal Investment Advisor, Series 65, Series, 7,Series 6, Series 63, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, and Accredited Wealth Management Advisor.
On December 31, 2024, Jeff and his wife Jennifer celebrated 30 years of marriage. Together, they welcomed and raised a beautiful and loving son, Benjamin, 26. Jeff was a devoted husband and father, and was extremely proud of Benjamin. He supported his son in every endeavor and remained committed to growing and learning with his son as he did. Jeff’s family values, mannerisms, and smile live on in his son.
Jeff was the most devoted, committed, and dedicated fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and Chicago Cubs. Watching them play, either on TV or in person, was his favorite past time, and one he shared with his late father. Many nights, the two could be found together either celebrating or mourning the outcome of the latest game.
Jeff was best known as a friend to all, with an infectious laugh. He could always be relied upon for a great big hug and a listening ear. He was the go-to guy for any handyman task that needed done. He would arrive with a smile and any tool you needed whenever you called on him.
Jeff is preceded in death by his father Thomas McIlvain and his half brother Gregory Thomas McIlvain.
Jeff is survived by his wife Jennifer, son Benjamin, mother Charlotte, Aunt(s) Linda Davis and Peggy Warren, and cousins Donna Waggener and Chris Warren. He was a devoted uncle, friend, and brother to many, both blood-related and otherwise.
The family invites friends to gather Sunday May 4th, 2025, for visitation at 11:30 followed by a service at 1:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119.
