Jeffrey Allen Jones' Obituary
Jeffrey Allen Jones of Memphis, TN passed away on January 29, 2016. He went home to be with the Lord after suffering from a respiratory condition. He was preceeded in death by his father, John Allen Jones.Jeffrey was born to John and Hattie Ophelia Jones in Indianapolis, IN on July 8, 1956. He was the second oldest of three children. He attended the Indianapolis Public Schools and knew the Lord at an early age as a member of Beulah Baptist Church. He graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1974 and went on to attend Purdue University where he graduated with a degree in Interior Design. He began his career in the furniture design industry living in Fort Wayne, IN and later New York City. After several years, he returned home and began a career in the radio industry while pursuing his M.B.A. from Indiana Wesleyan University. He worked for several stations in Indianapolis before he was subsequently hired by Clear Channel Radio in Memphis, TN as the Director of Sales & Marketing. Following a successful, decades-long career in the radio industry, he left Clear Channel in 2011 to pursue other interests.Jeffrey persevered through every season of life and touched the lives of so many. As a faithful member of The Life Church, which he affectionately referred to as his “happy place,” Jeffrey found great joy in serving people especially as a member of the Fresh Start Team, Men’s Connect Group Leader and in various outreaches around the city. As a proud graduate of the Damascus Road Internship Program in August, 2014, he was a man full of faith and vision who stood on God’s promises. With his beautiful smile, warm heart and gentle disposition, he loved to share the Word and encourage others in their journey. He was especially happy to have met and married the love of his life in God’s House. Jeffrey will be greatly missed.In addition to his family and friends, he leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Twyjauna (TK) Jones of Memphis, TN; his Mother, Hattie Jones of Indianapolis, IN; his sisters: Cathie Peterson (George) of Oak Park, IL and Angela Russ (Anthony) of Indianapolis, IN; a niece, Melodee Jones of Indianapolis, IN; and three nephews: Quinn Peterson of Forest Park, IL; Zachary Peterson of Atlanta, GA and Austin Russ of Indianapolis, IN.Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 10a-11a at The Life Church 1800 North Germantown Pkwy, Cordova, TN 38016. A Celebration of Life service begins at 11a. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Memphis Dream Center c/o The Life Church of Memphis.
