Jeanne Clarice Strickling Williams' Obituary
Jeanne Clarice Strickling Williams, 88, passed away January 4, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis,TN after a three year battle with Myleodysplasia. She was born in Grafton, WV on October 11, 1921 to Ada and Clarence Strickling. She enjoyed playing the piano, ballet dancing, and all forms of music. The Governor crowned her “Strawberry Queen” of West Virginia in 1941. She moved to Memphis and married George Williams on January 24, 1948. She was a longtime legal secretary, parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church, member of the Fleur de Lis Society and the Madonna Circle. She is survived by her husband of 62 years George Williams, children Rhonda Williams Travis (Kenny), Mark Williams (Jeanne), and James Williams (Annette). Grandchildren include Karen Travis, Katherine Travis Coy (Steve), Alex Williams, Austin Williams, Claire and Emma Williams. She was blessed with seeing her first great-grandchild, Travis Coy, born on December 6, 2009. Dorothy Williams and Jeanette Williams are her two sister-in-laws.
