Jeanette M. Saino's Obituary
Jeanette M. Saino died peacefully in her home at Town Village on Monday, September 26, 2017. She was 90. Born to Frank and Gina Melgara on October 20,1926, Jeanette was the second of three children born to the immigrants from Bassignana, Italy. A lifelong Memphian, she was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School (1944). She was a member of Delta Zeta sorority at the University of Tennessee (class of 1948). She later received a master’s degree from the University of Memphis. In 1950 she began a long career at the Memphis City Schools, first as an elementary teacher, then later, in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s, guiding the CLUE program. After retirement she continued to volunteer as a consultant to CLUE. In 1954 she married the love of her life, Frank C Saino, with whom she lived happily until his death in 2011. They had no children. She is survived by a nephew, Preston Sisk of Kitchener, Ontario, and four nieces: Gina (Josh) Drachman, of Seattle Washington; Leigh Sisk of Chicago, Illinois; Jeanette Sisk of New York, New York; Bisha (Mrs. Clay) Harrington of Knoxville Tennessee; two grandnieces and three grandnephews, three great grandnieces and three great grandnephews. Jeanette was a faithful communicant at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from the 1950’s until her death. Visitation will be held at Holy Rosary Church on Friday, September 29, from 6 – 8 pm, with a rosary at 7:15. The funeral mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Holy Rosary Church.
