Jeanette R. Jarrett's Obituary
Jeanette Russell Jarrett passed away peacefully June 22, 2017 at the age of 89. She was preceded by her husband of 58 years, Dalton Rex Jarrett, 3 sisters Mabel Russell, Ruth Russell Bogue and Virginia Russell Miller, and 4 brothers RK, Hubert, Lamar and Frank Russell. She is survived by her 2 brothers Dr. Stanley Russell and Dr. Richard Russell 1 son Alan and wife Beth 2 grandchildren Jennifer and Kevin Jarrett and 1 great grandchild McKenna Jarrett. Jeanette had a distinguished career in education. She began her teaching career in Mississippi, but soon moved to Memphis to continue teaching for 43 years with Memphis City Schools. Her greatest passion in life was impacting the lives of students and families through education both at Charjean Elementary and Richland Elementary Schools. She received many awards and recognitions throughout her career, but her most treasured was being named Memphis Rotary Teacher of the Year. The impact she had on so many children cannot be measured. A gathering will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Ave, Wednesday June 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. The graveside service will follow at 11.00 a.m. in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to Memorial Park. The family requests memorials be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice
