Jeanette Hettinger's Obituary
JEANETTE MILLER HETTINGER, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 16, 2014. She was born March 8, 1920 in Pontotoc, MS to Edmund and Martha Hargrove Miller. She graduated from Amory High School and was the Salutorian of her senior class. She then attended Draughon’s Business School in Memphis, and later received her accounting degree from UT. In 1942, she married Elmer Hettinger, and was very happily married for 45 years until his death in 1987. Jeanette was a very active member of Lindenwood Christian Church (74 years), was a lifelong Deaconess, and very involved in many aspects of church life. She also belonged to numerous civic and philanthropic organizations, assuming a leadership role in most of these. She is survived by a son, Dr. Michael (Terry); three grandchildren, Dr. Christian (Dr. Allison), Michael, Rachel, three great-grandchildren, Kate, Jack, and Christian, a sister, Earlean Sudbury, two sisters-in-law, Shirley Anderson and Virginia Ransom. The family would like to thank the staff at Trezevant Manor, Crossroads Hospice, and our very special care-givers, LaKecia Hart, Lorrie Finne, Brenda Pittman, and Linda Smith. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to Parkinson Foundation, Crohns and Colitis Foundation, Rhodes College, Lindenwood Christian Church, and Crossroads Hospice. Visitation will be 12 p.m. Saturday, November 22, followed by the Memorial Service at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
