Jean P. Stone's Obituary
Jean P. Stone went to her heavenly home the night of June 4th 2025, with her loving daughter, Debbie by her side. She was predeceased by her birth mother, Littie Burnes, who passed when Jean was only 3 years old, and her father, James Petty, at a later date. Jean was raised by her aunt Emma and Paul McCortney, both deceased, who legally adopted her later in her adult life. Jean is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Charles "Chuck" Stone, son Steven (Kay) Stone and daughter Debbie Stone, granddaughter, Heather (Patrick) Campbell, great granddaughters, Lexi and Lani Campbell, as well as step granddaughter, Mandy Dunn and step great grandchildren, Mitch Jr, Max, and McKay Dunn. She also leaves a "sister-like" cousin, Laverne Younger, as well as a slew of other extended family members. A graceful woman, Jean, in her earlier years, enjoyed camping, arts and crafts, decorating her home, cooking, swimming, boating, dancing, and being with friends and family. At one time she had worked as a secretary at the Navy base and a secretary at a law firm in Memphis, but her heart was truly into her time spent as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, from which she retired after a 26 year career. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 8 until funeral service begins at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, 38119. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
