Jean S. Bynum's Obituary
Sandra Jean Shankle Bynum, born March 29, 1945, went to be with her Lord on September 13, 2015. She is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Ronnie B. Bynum; her son, Ronnie B. Bynum, Jr. (Amanda); her adorable grandsons, Tyler and Cooper Bynum; and three sisters, Martha Jane Davis (Tommy) of Trenton, TN, Ann Darnell of Fairview, TN, and Alice Black of Franklin, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymon and Bonnie Shankle of Dyer, TN. Jean graduated from Dyer High School in 1963 and The University of Tennessee Martin in 1966. Jean received a Master’s Degree in Education from Memphis State University in 1970. Jean taught Kindergarten in Memphis City Schools for thirty-four years, teaching at Orleans, Alcy, and Keystone Elementary Schools. A talented athlete, Jean was inducted into the Gibson County Sports Hall of Fame in 1997. Jean was a longtime member of Germantown Baptist Church. Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15. Graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Dyer, TN at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, September 16.
