Jean Elise Lott Peyton's Obituary
Jean Elise Lott Peyton, 90, passed away October 29, 2017. Born in Natchez, MS on April 23, 1927, Jean was indeed a Southern Belle filled with grace and charm. She was the beloved matriarch of the Peyton family. She graduated from the University of Mississippi where she was president of Kappa Delta, Alpha Mu Chapter and forever a fervent Ole Miss fan. Jean and her husband, Frank, were longtime residents of Meridian, MS, before moving to Memphis. She was a stalwart member of St. George’s Episcopal Church. Continuing her love for the church, she taught pre-school at St. George’s for many years. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Frank Lewis Peyton, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Frank (Carolyn) Lewis Peyton, Jr. and John Peter (Lawrie) Peyton; her sister Betty (Ray) Lauffenburger as well as her grandchildren: Cameron (Emily) Peyton, Taylor (Troy) Strunk, Michael (Elizabeth) Peyton, John (Alexandra) Peyton and Martha Douglas (Mark) Hoban and seven great grandchildren. A special thank you to all her caregivers including Crossroads Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4th at 11:30 am at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 2425 S. Germantown Road, Germantown, TN 38138. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:30 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church, the Church Health Center or the charity of the donor’s choice. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”.
