Jean Gault's Obituary
Our sweet mother, Jean Gault, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022. She will be reunited in heaven with her husband, Bill. (Married for 42 years) She was born in Marshall, NC on May 29th, 1936, to the late Hobert & Evelyn Worley. She was a telephone operator for a while, then married on March 9th, 1957, and became a homemaker.
She is a breast cancer survivor of 51 years. She loved music, playing the piano, singing in the choir at Bartlett Hills Baptist Church (formerly Raleigh Baptist Church), singing in the car and around the house. Even near death, she wanted to hear music, especially “Near to the Heart of God” and would hum or start singing with me.
She loved working with her flowers, especially roses, peonies, and hydrangeas. She could take clippings and plant them in the ground and they would thrive. She truly had a green thumb. She was a great cook. She also liked to travel while she could.
Church was important to her. She was a Sunday School teacher to 5-year-olds & 3-year-olds. She was also a Mother’s Day Out teacher to 3-year-olds at Raleigh Baptist Church. She was very good with the little ones, and they loved “Miss Jean.” She loved her own Sunday School class and her teacher Sylvia. She was a wonderful Christian mother to her four children.
She is preceded by her husband, Bill. She leaves behind four children: Rene’ Pitts, Chuck Gault (Kathy), Robin Yarbrough (Mike), and Jeffrey Gault (Hope), nine loving grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two sisters: Sue Ramsey & June Clark (Billy), and many nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave on August 17th, 2022, at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or Bartlett Hills Baptist Church can be made in Jean’s name.
