Jean Trusty Bourland Tierce's Obituary
Jean Trusty Bourland Tierce, 86, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt, passed away March 23, 2015, in Gallatin, TN. She was born April 25, 1928, in Greenwood, MS to the late John Elam and Grace Trusty. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Billy Bourland and Ray Tierce, as well as one sister. She attended Greenwood High School and Bowling Green Business School. While working at the V.A. in Bossier City. LA she met and married Billy Wayne Bourland, U. S. Air Force. After returning from Germany her husband was killed in an auto accident. Jean and her daughter, Glenda, moved to Memphis to be close to family. During a 1970 class reunion Jean was reunited with classmate Ray Tierce. They were happily married until his death in 2008. Jean was a member of Colonial Baptist Church. She loved people and always enjoyed being of help at all times. She is survived by her daughters, Glenda (Billy) Godwin of Gallatin, TN and Dawn (Tim) Austin of Scott, LA, and a son Mike (Andrea) Tierce of California. She was grandmother to 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Peggy Barmer. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 27, from 10 – 11 am immediately followed by a funeral service at Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
