Jay Roger Robinson's Obituary
Jay Roger Robinson, 93, of Memphis, Tn passed away on November 20, 2023, and is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was born in Rochester, NY to Norman and Mildred Robinson on November 9, 1930. He moved to Scota, NY and attended high school there. Jay graduated from Cornell University where he majored in labor relations. Following college, he entered the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska. Before his deployment to Alaska, he married his wife, Mary Joyce. They were married for 69 years and 11 months until she passed in March of this year.
After the service Jay graduated from St. Louis Law School. He spent 19 years in personnel work and then went into private practice as a lawyer specializing in Labor Law. He represented companies in litigation, negotiations, and on the proper way to treat people. For 17 years he was an adjunct professor going to Ole Miss one day a week to teach labor law.
Jay was very active at Central Church as an elder and Mission Director. He was very involved with Evangelism Explosion and Calvary Rescue Mission. He was a young 93, traveling recently for his time to Europe to visit his grandson and great grandchildren. Jay had a joyous spirit always.
He is survived by his daughter Jaqueline (Ronald) Aldridge of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren Amy (Andrew) Edmonson of Denton, TX, John (Liudmyla) Waller of Copenhagen, Denmark. Claire (Daniel) Thomas of South Kingstown, RI, and seven great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at Central Church 2005 E. Winchester Blvd, Collierville, TN on Sunday November 26, 2023, at 9:15am.. Burial will be at Martindale Cemetery in Martindale NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Rescue Mission of Memphis
