Janis Lee Meadows Hollingsworth's Obituary
Janis Lee Meadows Hollingsworth, age 78 of Knoxville, formerly of Memphis passed away peacefully on June 11, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Atlanta, GA on August 25, 1943. She graduated from Frayser High School in Memphis in 1961. Her career spanned over 20 years as the Office Manager of the Holiday Inn Corporate Headquarters’ Employee Store assisting employees to design, decorate, and furnish their homes. She was recognized as the 1981 Holiday Inn Employee of the Year and was awarded an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii. She was a member of Bartlett United Methodist Church in Bartlett, TN. She was a loving and devoted mother, sister, Grammy, caregiver, and friend. She spent many decades working for the family business, Meadows Golden Glaze Donuts & Bakery. She always put others first and dedicated herself to caring for her mother for over 30 years. She loved gardening, scrapbooking, and other crafts. She also enjoyed volunteering at St. Jude Children’s Hospital, St. Joseph and St. Francis Hospitals, and Lutheran Village in Memphis. Her loyal chihuahua, Bella, was a constant companion and always by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, Grady Lee and Willie Mae Meadows; brother, Arnold Meadows; sister, Carol Sue Huggins; and daughter-in-law, Jama McDonald Hollingsworth. She is survived by her three sons, John Hollingsworth (Cindy), Peter Hollingsworth (Darla), and Daniel Hollingsworth; grandchildren Dillon Hollingsworth and Sarah Grace Hollingsworth; sister, Sherry McIntosh, and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Patrick, Beth, and Dexter at UT Hospice for their compassion and excellent care. The Funeral Service & Interment will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5568 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN, 38119 on June 18, 2022 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
