Janice Neal Smith's Obituary
Janice Neal Smith passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, after a brief illness. She was born in Houston, MS on April 14, 1941, the only child to Hannon and Nona Mabry Neal.
Janice grew up in Derma, MS and graduated from Derma High School, where she was a basketball standout winning “Best All-Around Basketball Player” in Calhoun County for 1959.
She moved to Memphis in the mid 1960’s. In 1968 she married Thomas M. “Tim” Smith and in late 1971, they moved to Horn Lake, MS, where she was employed by Dover/thyssenkrupp Elevator for 35 years, was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Horn Lake and an avid University of Memphis Tiger fan.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Tim. She is survived by her son Larry Sheffield (Melissa), daughters Tina Judd (Joey) and Lee Antley (Keith), eight grandchildren: Jeremy Clements (Nicole), Allison Antley, Kathryn Sheffield (Alan), Forace Antley (Jacqui), Alisha Sheffield (Jacob), Murphy Schutte (Brady), Joseph “JoJo” Judd (Danielle) and Dylan Sheffield, 11 great grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law, Joyce Smith, Trish Foster (Steve), Pam Phelps, 3 cousins, Beverly, Delphia, and Sandra, and a dear friend, Dora, that were like sisters, and her beloved dog, Bailey.
