Janice Aline Fiewig Doan's Obituary
Janice Aline Fiewig Doan, 86, died on November 14, 2020. Although born in Walla Walla, WA, she spent the majority of her unmarried life in Flint, MI. While working as a secretary at General Motors Training Institute, she met a young man attending training. After a short courtship of 3 months, they became engaged and she left MI for a life in the South. She was well-loved in her full career as the Office Manager in an optometry practice. A gracious spirit and marvelous chef, she enjoyed hosting gatherings of her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Henry Clark Doan; son, Clark Randal Doan, and son in law, William Jeffrey Bland. Surviving family members include her son, Henry Cannon Doan of Dyersburg; daughter, Catherine Doan Bland of Germantown; grandchildren, Hays Cannon (Andrea) Doan, Mary Holland (Derek) Morris, Susannah Catherine Bland, and Sarah Elizabeth Bland; great-grandchildren Thomas Clark Morris and Anna Francis Morris; her brother, Hooley (Barbara) Fiewig of Clio, MI; her sister, Judy (Larry) Clare of Williamsville, NY; and many nieces and nephews. A public memorial service for Janice and Clark will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 106 Walnut Street, Collierville, TN 38017; Be Free Revolution (The William Jeffrey Bland Scholarship), 783 Meadow Ridge, Collierville, TN 38017; or the charity of the donor’s choice.
