Janet Wright's Obituary
Janet Stewart Blake Wright, 92, of Memphis, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 8, 2013 following a long battle with heart failure.She was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church, the “3 M’s” (More Mature Members), and past president of the Adult Bible Study Class. In 1979, she was presented with an Honorary Life Membership in the Presbyterian Women of the Church. She was also active in the Naomi Club, the Beethoven Club, Duration Club (past president of Dur-Arts), Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, Kings Daughters and Sons and the English Speaking Union. She is Past President of the Memphis Officers Wives Club and was active in the Military Order of the World Wars, the Gavel Club, Brooks Museum, Dixon Gallery, Pink Palace and various bridge groups.She graduated from Beacom College in Willmington, Delaware. Her business career included Secretary and Office Manager of Wyeth Laboratories Sales Office, and Secretary of Shoney’s South, Inc. In 1962 she became a Certified Professional Secretary. In 1964 she was recognized as Memphis Secretary of the Year; and in 1983 as Memphis Businesswoman of the Year. She was a past member of the Association of Administrative Professionals.She is survived by her daughters Florence Blake Seger (husband Ernest Seger) of Memphis, TN and Janet Blake Richardson of Houston, TX; step-daughter Mary Linda Sinks (husband David Sinks) of Southaven, MS; granddaughter Dr. Blakely Richardson Solteldo (husband Daniel Solteldo) of Austin, TX; step granddaughter Holly Bramlett of Walls, MS; grandstepson James Keith Bramlett, Jr of Hernando, MS; niece, Peg Ramsey Cardin of North East Maryland; nephews Thomas H Ramsey, Jr. of Radnor, PA and Werner A. Lohe of Brookline, MA; and a host of friends who loved her dearly.The visitation will be held Friday, July 12, at Second Presbyterian Church in the Salmon Room from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at Second Presbyterian Church.In lieu of flowers memorial gifts should be made to Second Presbyterian Church and the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary.
