Jane H. Wood's Obituary
Jane Henderson Wood, born April 5, 1924, passed away at her home in Germantown on Friday. She leaves her husband Lewis, of 46 years, her daughter Janie Wood Mims, son-in -law Carl Mims and 5 grandchildren. Jane attended Snowden Jr. High and graduated from Central High School. While attending Memphis State University, Jane was a founding member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Later she served as President of the local Alumni Chapter. She was a cheerleader and champion in both ping pong and doubles tennis.She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and past president of the Lady’s Guild. Jane was an active leader in many social and charitable clubs, serving as President of the 19th Century club for 8 years, the Woman’s Exchange, Duration Cluband as Grand Duchess of Carnival Memphis and Ra-Met.Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral on Saturday, September 27th at 1:00 pm followed by the Liturgy at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Cathedral, 500 Poplar Ave, Memphis, Tn 38105.
