Jane Costarides Futris' Obituary
JANE COSTARIDES FUTRIS, 88, of Memphis, died Friday, April 6, 2012 after a long illness. She was born in Montgomery, AL, a true Southern Belle. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 9 at Memorial Park. The service will be at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on Tuesday, April 10 at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted friend, who will be deeply missed. While raising six children, she was also an artist, played both piano and organ, did beautiful needlepoint and was a gracious hostess. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served Him well. She was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary Elpis Philoptochos Society, a member of the King’s Daughters’ Friends of the Needy Circle, a former Lady of Saint Jude and for years attended Bible Study Fellowship. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Catherine Costarides, her beloved husband, George Futris and son, John Stephen Futris. She leaves three daughters, Cathy (Don) Tummins, Cynthia McGeorge, and Celeste Futris; two sons, George (Linda) Futris and Philip Futris; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. “Her children arise and call her blessed.” Prov. 31:28. Her family would like to thank her caregivers at Memphis Jewish Home and Crossroads Hospice for their love and kindness. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 573 North Highland Memphis TN 38122 or to the Church Health Center.
