James Lynn Wilson Sr.'s Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that the family of James Lynn Wilson, Sr. of Lakeland announces his passing on May 12, 2023, at the age of 77.
James was born in Union City, Tennessee on August 2, 1945, to Marjorie and James Robert Wilson. He graduated from Central High School, Memphis, Tennessee in 1964.
He was a 30-year veteran of the Memphis Police Department, retiring as Lieutenant in 1994. He later joined the Shelby County Sheriff’s office, serving as the Director of Accreditation and Policies until retiring in 2018.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Wilson.
James is survived by his wife, Priscilla Wilson; daughter, Candy Smothers (Mark), son, James Lynn Wilson, II; stepdaughter Bridget Davern (Bill); grandchildren James Lynn Wilson, III, Emma Davern, and Cecelia Davern; mother, Marjorie Wilson; first wife Betty Wilson and brother, Stanley Graves (Judy).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm in the Riverside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:00am in the Riverside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with an hour visitation prior to the service starting at 10:00am. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
