James Strickland's Obituary
James E. Strickland (Mr. Jim) 86, slipped the surly bonds that bound his soul to this earth on Friday morning December the 4, 2015. James was born on November 8, 1929 in Memphis TN to Alex T. Strickland and Rosalie B. Strickland. Pain and cancer no longer invade his body. His soul and spirit are free at last to be reunited with those that have preceded him in this journey. Mr. Strickland was a graduate of Treadwell High School, class of 1948 and the University of Memphis Law School, class of 1958. Mr. Strickland was a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed at the Brooke Army Hospital, Santino Texas. Mr. Strickland was retired from International Harvester after forty years, serving as the Industrial Labor Relations Manager. He was currently employed by Bass Pro Shops since 2004 in the Customer Services Department. Mr. Strickland was a member and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church on Highland. He is preceded in death by his parents Alex T. Strickland and Rosalie Strickland Fulton, Brother Taylor Strickland and his wife of 60 years Kathryn M. Strickland. He is survived by his sister Mary French of Bartlett, sons Jim (Teresa) Strickland of Germantown TN, Robert M. Strickland of Sardis Mississippi. Grandchildren James, Kathryn, and Ashley Strickland of Memphis and Michael (Allison) Strickland of Benton, AR and Great Grandson Mason Cruz Garcia of Memphis. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and a wonderful friend to all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed. Although we will miss you, we know now you are truly home with the Lord. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. followed by the Rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday, December 6 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. His Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 8 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 670 S.
