James A. Sellers' Obituary
James Alvin Sellers, 78, passed away on November 16, 2011 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Ann Sellers; three daughters; Patty Chafin and husband Scott, Deborah Gilner and husband Walter, Jamie Rumble and husband Brady; and six grandchildren. Al graduated from Ford City High School in 1951, and took his undergraduate studies at Penn State University, and California University of PA, graduating Cum Laude. He served in the USAF during the Korean conflict and operated with the German occupational forces while serving nine years. Al retired in 1992 as Senior Director of Distribution Center Merchandising for the K-Mart Corporation after 33 years. After retirement, Al returned to service for his country as a 16 year member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, while also volunteering at the Coast Guard Marine Safety Office in Memphis, TN . As a certified examiner, he was awarded the Coast Guard’s highest achievement medal for his work. Al was a thirty year member of the Germantown United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, November 19, at 11:30 AM.
