James Bedford Price's Obituary
James Bedford Price, 89, of Olive Branch, MS, passed away on May 21, 2021.
He was born on September 7, 1931 in Memphis, TN. He was the son of James Marvin Price and Bertha Barbee Price of Memphis. A short time after graduating from Tech High School, he began working for what was then, Memphis Transit Authority (MATA). He was a cashier, counting the money that came from the cash boxes on the buses. After 45 years, he retired.
Mr. Price is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Barnes Price of Olive Branch, MS; Janet Price Burnham (Bob) of Marion, AR and Vicki Price of Olive Branch, MS; two granddaughters, Melanie Burnham Crockett (Joe) and Bethany Burnham of Harrison, AR; four great-grandsons, Griffen Crockett, Geren Crockett, Graylen Crockett, and Golden Crockett of Harrison, AR; and several very special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Price was also preceded in death by his sister, Marguerite Price Tate; and his son, James Randall “Randy” Price.
Mr. Price was a member of Gracewood Baptist Church in Southaven. He taught a men’s Sunday Class for a number of years; served as a deacon; and was a member of the choir.
From a very young age, he had a deep love for music and a God-given ability to play several different instruments. He enjoyed sharing his talent, not for entertainment, but for sharing the message of God’s love for the world.
The visitation and funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Gracewood Baptist Church, 8551 Getwell Road, Southaven, MS, 38672. The family will receive relatives and friends at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
