James M McFarland's Obituary
James Michael McFarland, 92, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
Jim was born to parents, Mike and Gladys McFarland on March 25, 1931. He was raised in McCrory, Arkansas and came to live in Memphis as a young adult after his service in the U.S. Navy. He was married to Lou McFarland on January 6, 1968, until the passing of Lou in January 2021. They were residents of Germantown, TN for more than 40 years.
Jim and Lou were devout Christians and long-time members of Christ United Methodist Church. He worked as a Manager of Quality Control for Kimberly-Clark in Memphis for 37 years before taking retirement and working in the car business.
Jim is survived by daughter, Debi Stoddard; grandchildren, Dean Proffer and his wife Heather, and Kelly Castleman; and great grandchildren, Mason Proffer and Marisa Proffer. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael McFarland.
Jim leaves many friends for whom he cared deeply. He loved his dogs and hunting and never missed an opportunity to tell a good yarn. He will be greatly missed by many.
His visitation will be held Saturday, November 18th, from 9:00 a.m. until the service time at 10:00 a.m., at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the building fund of Christ United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
