James William Martin's Obituary
James William Martin, Jr. 65, walked into the arms of his loving Savior surrounded by family and friends after one year battle of cancer on November 2, 2015. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Jim lived his life serving the Lord. He was a member of First Evangelical Church, where he served as Counselor, Bible Study teacher, Men’s Prayer Group leader. He served on the Evangelical Christian School Board, BOMA board and as president, Emmaus/Chysalis board and lay director and Elder. He had been employed by Fed Ex in property management for the past 11 years which was preceded by employment at Clark and Clark for 35 years prior. James is survived by his loving wife, Karen Martin of Germantown, TN; daughter, Sarah Martin Butler (Kevin) of Birmingham, AL; son, Tim Martin of Memphis, TN; sister, Margaret Martin Clark (Joe) of Germantown, TN; brother, David Martin of Memphis, TN and granddaughter, Margaret McHann Butler of Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lottie Martin. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 3 from 5-8 pm at First Evangelical Church, 735 Ridge Lake Blvd., Memphis, TN 38120. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, November 4 at the church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Evangelical Christian School. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN 38119. “Honoring Lives Behind the Stone Wall.”
