James Maguire, Sr.'s Obituary
DR. JAMES KIMBRO MAGUIRE SR., 83, passed away January 13, 2011. Dr. Maguire received both his undergraduate and medical degree from Louisiana State University, where he was a member of SAE Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Navy, practiced as a general surgeon at Baptist Memorial Hospital and as an emergency room physician for many years. Dr. Maguire was an avid LSU fan and a devoted husband, father and physician. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 16 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private entombment will follow in the Mausolem in Memorial Park. Dr. Maguire was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Julia McCartney Maguire. He was also preceded in death by his 2nd wife, Judith Conway Maguire, brother, John Buffington Maguire, Jr. of Pampa, TX, and sisters, Frances Maguire Gilfoil of Lafayette, LA and Patricia Maguire Nettles of Salem, SC. He leaves one daughter, Terry Maguire Elzinga and her husband, Kenneth Gerald Elzinga of Charlottesville, VA; two sons, John Buffington Maguire II of Olive Branch, MS and Dr. James Kimbro Maguire, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Penny Lynch of Knoxville, TN.
