James Harold Luster's Obituary
James Harold (Hack) Luster, Sr., 92, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord on September 20, 2016. He was born August 27, 1924, in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late Mary Irene Finley Luster and Miles Roddy Luster. He graduated from Central High School in Jackson, Mississippi and attended Millsap College. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corp and was stationed on Guam. After the service, he was employed by Commercial Credit Corporation where he worked for 38 years in various management and executive positions, including Vice President of Operations. His career took him from Jackson, Mississippi, to Memphis, to Atlanta, to Baltimore, Maryland and back to Memphis. After retirement, Harold served as a state side liaison for a mission organization working in Asia. His overall passion in life was sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Harold was a member of Colonial Park Methodist Church and later served as a deacon and elder at First Evangelical Church. Upon return to Memphis, he was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He later was a member of Faith Baptist Church. After his move to the Chattanooga area, he joined Ooltewah Baptist Church. Harold is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roddy Finley Luster. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce Billings Luster; son, James (Buddy) Luster, Jr. (Judy Walls); daughter Michelle Luster Smart (Steve); son, David Luster (Vickie); 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lynn Luster McBride and husband, John, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, September 24 at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will be Friday evening, September 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be sent to Faith Baptist Church of Cordova or Ooltewah Baptist Church of Ooltewah, Tennessee.
