James E. Logan Sr.'s Obituary
James E. Logan, Sr., 90, of Memphis, passed away on August 5, 2023. He was an Army Veteran who deeply loved his country.
Mr. Logan was preceded in death by parents and five siblings. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara Logan, three children, James Logan, Jr., Becky Baskin (Brent), and Cindy Garrison (Pete), six grandsons, Hunter Logan, Ethan Baskin, Logan Garrison, Benton Garrison, Griffin Garrison, and Clayton Garrison and three siblings, LW Logan, Larry Logan, and Jane Musso.
Mr. Logan was a founding member of Eastside Baptist Church, and led the Highway Harvesters Tape Ministry for over 30 years. He loved traveling and being outdoors in the mountains and four wheeling with the Bear Tracker group.
Mr. Logan was faithful in taking his family to church and teaching them to trust in Jesus; as well as how to water ski, hunt, fish, shoot a gun and loved spending time with them. He was the number one fan for all his grandsons sporting and musical events. He always had a funny story to share or a prank to pull.
Mr. Logan retired in 1995 as a truck driver from Roadway Express after 37 years of service. Then, he retired from Memorial Park Funeral Home in 2019 after 14 years. He was extremely loved by his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 11, and Saturday, August 12, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. The service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12 at Eastside Baptist Church, 3232 Covington Pike, Memphis TN. Interment will be in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Eastside Baptist Church.
