James Raymond Kelley's Obituary
Raymond Kelley of Memphis went to be with the Lord Jesus on Feb. 24 at age 85. He now joins Joanne, his wife of 61 years, his mother and his two sisters, Jean and Helen, in glory. Raymond will be deeply missed by his friends and family, including his brother Charles, three children (Jim, Bryant and Laura), seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Raymond, who graduated from Messick High School and Memphis State University, retired after 30+ years at MLGW. He was blessed with an abundance of rich friendships that lasted a lifetime and was a member of Colonial Baptist Church for more than 50 years. It was a rare occurrence to be out with Raymond and not have someone call his name or stop him on his way. He was an accomplished athlete, who excelled in multiple sports at Messick, played football for Memphis State, and recorded several holes-in-one. But more than that, Raymond was a loving and faithful husband, father, and grandfather who was always especially grateful for the love and sacrifice his mother provided. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Raymond’s life on Tuesday, March 3, at Colonial Baptist, 1503 Colonial Rd., Memphis. The visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00, and the memorial service will begin at 2:00.Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119,”Behind the Stone Wall.”
