James Thomas Joyner's Obituary
James Thomas Joyner, 73, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022. James was born July 19, 1949, in Millington, TN to Willie Joyner and Doris Bolding, residing in Texas, Virginia, and Memphis, TN. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1967 where he served in various locations within the US, Hawaii, and Spain. He was honorably discharged in 1974. Mr. Joyner was a Maintenance Technician with Sears Roebuck & Company for 16 years. He earned degrees in Electronic Technology and Telecommunication Engineering Technology in 1991. He worked as an Electronics Technician with the United States Postal Service from 1991-2016.
Mr. Joyner is survived by his wife of 36 years, Vicki Joyner; daughters Michelle (Brian) Wilburn, Melissa (Jason) Kennedy, Rachel (Joseph) Knight; grandchildren Kayla, Justin, and Emily Wilburn, Hannah Allison, Brooklynn and Joseph Knight, Eleanor and Sullivan Kennedy; and great grandchild, Phoebe Wilburn; brothers Glen (Barbara) Joyner and John Joyner.
Mr. Joyner is preceded in death by his father, Willie C. Joyner; his mother, Doris Bolding Joyner; his brother, Bill Joyner; his sister, Dee Richards.
James was a member of the Bartlett Woods Church of Christ. He was a lover of nature, bird watching, music, billiards, carpentry and automotive work. He was a jack of all trades to his family and loved teaching his family in the process, and spending time with them. He was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 24, 2022, for visitation from 11:00am – 12:00pm with funeral services immediately following at 12:00pm at Bartlett Woods Church of Christ, 7900 Old Brownsville Rd., Arlington, TN 38002. Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery has charge.
