James Thomas Jordan's Obituary
James Thomas Jordan, 88, passed away on June 8 after suffering from a stroke earlier in March.
He was born in Toone, Tennessee, May 6, 1934. He was the middle son of Charles Marvin Jordan and Ruth Marian Nuckolls Jordan.
He married his high school sweetheart, Patty Sue Jordan from the Piney Grove community in Hardeman County, Tennessee, in a small ceremony witnessed by her cousin, Dr. Glenn Jordan, and his wife, Netha Staton Jordan, on April 8, 1956.
After serving in the U.S. Army in the Korean War he was employed by The Pure Oil Co. in Memphis as a transport driver. He worked his way in to Terminal Operations and Marine Tankerman duties and completed his career as such with UNOCAL, retiring in 1988.
James and Patty were longtime residents of Germantown, Tennessee. They moved to Assisted Living in Grayson, Georgia, in the fall of 2020.
He is survived by his brother and his wife, Charles Jordan and Betty Jordan, Germantown, Tennessee; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Thomas “Tommy” Jordan and Connie Jordan, Johns Creek, Georgia; his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Lynn Jordan Amaya and Joe Amaya; his grandchildren Ashley Jordan, Charleston, South Carolina; Clark Jordan, Richmond Hill, Georgia; Jonathan Amaya, Lilburn, Georgia; Jordan Amaya, Lilburn, Georgia; his six nieces and nephews; and ten great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that dad jokes, good deeds and generosity be given and shared in abundance in his memory. He was always doing something good for others, always had a generous heart, and lots of dad jokes.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 15 at 9:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
