James A. "Jimmy" Ervin's Obituary
James “Jimmy” Allen Ervin, age 77 of Memphis, Tennessee, better known as “Bro. Jimmy”, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 11 at 3 PM at Bellevue Baptist Church, 2000 Appling Rd, Cordova, TN 38016. Visitation will be 1 PM – 3 PM at the church. Jimmy was born on August 21, 1939 in Jackson, Tennessee, one of nine children born to William Rufus and Sarah Ervin. After graduating from Jackson High School he served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. While in the Air Force he met his wife, Rosemary of Jackson and they have been married 58 years. At the age of 27, God called him into the ministry where he served as pastor/associated pastor for over 15 years. He later became founder and president of PRO Missions, Inc. for over 20 years. Until his death, he was a Missions Consultant for Global Ministries Foundation in Memphis, TN. He is preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Ervin and his 4 brothers Howard, Clyde, Joe and Jackie Ervin and his 2 sisters, Maureen Grace and Frances Richardson. Carrying on his legacy is his wife Rosemary, his children, Pam Jackson (Walter), Michael Ervin, and Penny Clark (Pat); his grandchildren, Lauren Jackson, Shaun Ervin, AJ Jackson (Leslie), Katie Rose Clark, Blake Ervin, David Clark, and Reagan Ervin; and one sister Judy Green of Jackson, TN. Interment by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119 with burial at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in honor of Bro. Jimmy be given to Hope Christian Community Foundation, 4515 Poplar Ave., Ste. 324, Memphis, TN 38117, to continue the work of Edgar Sathuluri of NATIVE in India.
