James "Jimmy" Partee Fleming's Obituary
James Partee Fleming, 76, known affectionately as “Jimmy” or “Cappy”, passed away at his home on Friday, June 23, 2023.
Jimmy was born December 28, 1946 to Partee Fleming and Anita Tiblier Fleming in Memphis, TN. He graduated Christian Brothers High School in 1964 and attended Memphis State University for a year before joining his family’s business, Fleming Fine Furniture. After taking over from his father in the 1970s, he turned the company into a name synonymous with Memphis furniture for multiple generations. A natural promoter, Jimmy is probably best known for his commercials that flooded Memphis televisions for over 25 years, often starring himself and his children. Those closest to him also knew him for his keen wit and ability to find humor in both good and bad times.
He was a faithful Christian, passionate American, and a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved people, travel, and business.
He is preceded in Heaven by his parents, Partee and Anita, and his sister, Geraldine Fleming Millaway. He is survived by Elitha “Lisa” Wood Fleming; his sons Chris (Karey), Joey (Lisa), and Andy; stepsons Micah and Dustin Wood; his grandchildren Bailey, Walker, Cameron, Hudson, Kennedy, and London; a great-grandson Asher; and his sister Anita Marie Corbitt (Joe).
A Memorial Service for Jimmy will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 1:00pm in the Riverside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation an hour prior to the service starting at 12:00pm.
