James "Jim" William Clark's Obituary
James “Jim” William Clark, a resident of Germantown, TN for over 50 years, passed away on August 5, 2022 at the age of 82.
He was born in Huntsville, AL on December 18, 1939 to Ernest and Gladys Clark. He lived his early years in Huntsville and after graduating from high school joined the Marines. Jim proudly served his country for four years and after his discharge from the Marines attended Memphis State University before moving to St. Louis. It was in St. Louis where he and Marilyn met and married. Soon afterwards, Jim and Marilyn relocated to Memphis where Jim built a thriving insurance business. Jim was very devoted to his clients and remained in the insurance business until his retirement.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Gladys Clark, and his two brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marilyn; his two sons and daughters in law, Jeff Clark and Rachel Clark of Brentwood, TN, and D. Clark and E. Clark of Collierville, TN; three grandchildren, Lauren and Hudson of Collierville, and Audriana of Brentwood; two sisters in law; a niece and three nephews; and several grand nieces and grand nephews. Jim devoted his entire life to caring for his family and took wonderful care of his mother in her last years.
Jim had a love for cars, music and helping others. He spent years volunteering for the Memphis Jaycees and received much gratification from delivering toys to underprivileged children at Christmas. Jim loved working in his yard and was always very proud of the compliments that he received on his beautiful yard.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 14th in the Fireside Chapel, at Memorial Park Funeral Home at 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis with visitation beginning at 2pm and a service immediately following at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of James W. Clark to either the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House, 1520 West Poplar Avenue, Collierville, TN 38017.
