James Jefferies' Obituary
James Earl Jefferies, 83, born October 5, 1926 in Brownsville, TN passed away May 26, 2010. His parents, Lena Carlton Jefferies and Marvin C. Jefferies, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anita Jefferies; three children, Ann Christman (husband Frank) of Monroe, LA; Nancy McLemore (husband Peter) of Jackson, TN; Jim Jefferies (wife Nicole) of Lutz, FL; and ten grandchildren. Mr. Jefferies was a World War II veteran and a member of the Masons in Memphis. He graduated from Memphis Technical High School in December in 1944, after which he joined the armed services. Mr. Jefferies was a retired salesman from BIC Pen Corp. and later owned and operated his own office supply business. He was a long time member and former deacon at Woodland Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. The visitation will be held Monday, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 31, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 1 at Woodland Presbyterian Church, 5217 Park Ave. Memphis TN. Entombment will take place in the Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Woodland Presbyterian Church.
