James Holcomb's Obituary
James Anderson Holcomb, Sr., 94, passed away on February 23, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lou Hatchett Holcomb, two daughters, Noni Holcomb Gardner (William), Jamie Holcomb Henwood (Lee), one son, Hampton Andrew Holcomb, Sr. (Nancy), 10 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Holcomb was preceded in death by his son, James Anderson Holcomb, Jr., a brother, J Ross Holcomb, Jr., and a grandson, Jay Hatchett Holcomb. Mr. Holcomb was born in Vicksburg, MS and graduated from Central High School in Memphis and Mississippi College. He was a Naval Aviator and LSO Officer during WWII. Mr. Holcomb joined the family timber business in Memphis prior to becoming a calculator salesman for Marchant Calculators in Chattanooga where he met his wife Lou. He remained in this industry for over 25 years. They moved to Memphis in 1961 where they raised their family and made lifelong friends. They retired to Ocean Springs, MS in 1986 where they enjoyed many friends and activities before returning to Memphis in 2012. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 2, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to St. Elisabeth Episcopal Church Building Fund or St. Jude Hospital.
