James C. Harper's Obituary
James C. Harper, 78, passed away October 17, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 19 from 5 -7 p.m. Funeral services & Masonic rites will be held on Wednesday, October 20 at 10 a.m. all at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The interment with military honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Son of Cecil M. and Vivian Davis Harper, James was born in Clinton, KY on December 25, 1931. He moved to Jackson, TN at an early age and graduated from Jackson High School. At Lambuth College, he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was Methodist and a Mason. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He retired as a captain and company commander from the TN Army National Guard. In civilian life, James retired from General Adjustment Bureau after 25 years and then retired from Fireman’s Fund Insurance after 10 years. Most recently, he retired from NSA after 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Susan Grissom (Scott) of Memphis; son, Jeffrey Harper (Meredith) of Austin, TX; two granddaughters, Devin Grissom and Katherine Harper.
