James Dean Gauntlett's Obituary
Germantown, Tennessee - James Dean Gauntlett (Dean), 89, died of natural causes
on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in Germantown, Tennessee. He was born on July 26, 1932, in Hamilton, Bermuda. During his lifetime, Dean also lived in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, Clearwater, Florida, and most recently in Bristol, New Hampshire before moving to the Memphis area in 2015.
Dean was the son of the late Ralph and Mary (née Harrison) Gauntlett. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by brothers, Keith Gauntlett, Oakville, Ontario, and Harold (Donna) Gauntlett, London, Ontario, Leonard Gauntlett, Bermuda, and sisters Mary Gauntlett and Fay Powell, Bermuda. He leaves behind his brother, Jack (Marita) Gauntlett, Sweden, sisters Joy Browne, Plainview, Texas, and Gayle (Jock) Stewart, Somerset, Bermuda. In addition to his surviving siblings, he leaves his two daughters, Lisa Elaine
(Joseph) Frackleton, and Dana Somers (Kevin) Bernstein. Dean also leaves five grandchildren:
Glorie Shea Frackleton, Providence, Rhode Island, Riley Dean Frackleton, Carbondale, Colorado, Remy Jacob Terle, Memphis, Tennessee, Cooper Allen Terle, Los Angeles, California, and Luca Dean Terle, Knoxville, Tennessee. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Dean is also survived by two former spouses, Marcie (née Van Deman) Gauntlett, West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, and Janet Thomas Gauntlett, Paget, Bermuda. Dean received his BS degree in Accounting from Bentley College, Waltham, Massachusetts, in 1988. He was very proud of this accomplishment as he finished up his studies later in life while raising his family. Dean was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge in Fitchburg, Massachusetts for many years and was a past Master. He also enjoyed horses that his family and he raised in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, in the 1960’s and 70’s. Dean was also an avid animal lover, and the home in Lunenburg was a treasure trove of horses, dogs, cats, and guinea pigs! He also enjoyed carpentry, gardening, and keeping the homestead in pristine shape. Dean was a loving family man, appreciated good home cooking, and enjoyed and embraced nature. A remembrance gathering will take place in Bermuda, with a future date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
