James Edward McCandless' Obituary
James Edward McCandless, 84, died March 5, 2013 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN.He was born May 8, 1928. Mr. McCandless served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he retired from the Memphis City Schools as the Principal of the Shrine School for handicapped children. Mr. McCandless was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Moscow, TN, where he lived.He is preceded by his wife Gwendolyn McCandless and survived by his son and wife John E. McCandless and Margaret McCandless; he has four grandchildren, Lauren L. Raburn, Lance E. McCandless, Christian E. McCandless, and Charles D. McCandless, six great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.Visitation has been arranged for Saturday, March 9th from 4-6pm and the family will receive friends and family for services Sunday, March 10th at 2:30pm both at Memorial Park Funeral Home.The family requests that memorials be sent to The Baptist Children’s Home of Memphis, the Shrine School of Memphis, or the charity of the donor’s choice.Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, (901)767-8930, “Behind the Stone Wall”.
