James Alan Day Sr.'s Obituary
James "Alan" Day, Sr., 92, of Germantown, TN went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 19, 2025, surrounded by family. Alan was born on September 19, 1932, to Clarence Edgar and Lila Ray Day in Ripley, MS. Alan grew up in Marks, MS. He attended college at Ole Miss from 1950 to 1954 he graduated with a major in Chemistry and a minor in Biology. Alan was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity during his time at Ole Miss. After college, he began his career at International Paper Company where he worked for 41 years.
Alan accepted the Lord as his Savior as a child at First Baptist Church of Marks, MS. Alan was a member of First Baptist Church Fisherville, TN.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Clarence Edgar and Lila Ray Day, his siblings, Clarence Edgar Day, Jr and Lila Nance Day, and his grandson, Price Charles Hancock. Alan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jerron Ian Day, his children, Judith Elaine Mooney (Joe), James Alan Day, Jr (Cheryl), Jana Maria Hancock (Bryan) and Jason Scott Hill, his grandchildren, Heather Mooney, Lindsay Mooney, Derek Day, Sean Day, Matt Day (Maddison), Bryana Bostic (Tyler) and his great-granddaughters Winston Day and Charleston Day.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with funeral service to follow at beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
