James "Jimmy" Davis' Obituary
James “Jimmy” G. Davis, III, died peacefully at his home in Lewisburg, MS, on March 8, 2015. He was born October 28, 1962 in Memphis. Jimmy was the son of Emily Davis and the late James Davis, Jr. Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Jessica Marie, a sister, Becky Parrish (Mike), nephews, Michael and Preston Parrish and a niece Kathleen Parrish. There are also many other family members and friends who were special to him.Jimmy was a graduate of Briarcrest High School and obtained an Associate Degree in Diesel Mechanics from Diesel Mechanic School in St. Louis, MO. After working for several years as a diesel mechanic for a river barge company, he bought the first of many trucks and embarked on a career of over the road driving that lasted 30 years.Jimmy was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Lewisburg, MS. The joy of his life was spending time with his daughter, taking her on cruises, trips to the beach, and being a part of her life.He loved listening to Christian radio and CD’s about heaven as he drove his truck.Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The visitation will begin at 1 p.m.Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at New Prospect Baptist Church in Lewisburg, MS, or to the Nehemiah Fund at Crossroads Baptist Church in Cordova, TN.
